Swastika:The Symbol of welfare (कल्याण का प्रतीक )

As you all know that in Hinduism before starting or initiating any process, action or work the symbol of Om, Swastika as well as the symbol of goddess Laksmi ( i.e.,Shree श्री) is inscribed on that particular thing or object.

As in my previous blogs we have discussed about the esoteric symbol of Om …..Now we will discuss about the symbol of Swastika.

Swastika - A Symbol of Auspiciousness and Well being

Next to OM, Swastika is the second most sacred symbol of Hinduism symbolizing the eternal cycle of birth, suffering, death and birth. The word Swastika has a definite etymological origin in Sanskrit. It is derived from the root:

Su asti yena tat swastika

From the Sandhi(combination) of ‘Su’ that means “well or auspicious”, ‘Asti’ means “being” and ‘ka’ is a suffix the word swastika is formed .

The symbol of swastika provides good fortune,welfare.,life , existence...etc.

Different types of swastika:

                                                    There are two types of Swastikas. Right facing or Clockwise direction Swastika and Left facing or Counterclockwise direction Swastika.  Swastika symbol is substantial for Hindus.You have experienced, not even a single work in Hinduism begins without Swastika symbol on it. Right and left Swastika symbols has different meaning.

The right one is the evolution of the universe and the left one is the involution of the universe. Swastika symbol also represents the God Sun. Almost all Hindu yantra like shree yantra, accessories and religious designs has Swastika symbol on them. Even the auspicious occasions, temples, pictures, sacred signs, houses, doorways, ceremonies have the Swastika symbol on them.

   संहार, सर्वनाश, प्रलय(Death, Destruction, Annihilation)

Left facing or Counterclockwise direction Swastika is called “Aswastika". Both are equally holy and used for different purposes to denote different ideas. Clockwise Swastika and counterclockwise Swastika is like two faces of a coin, both are original.

Swasti in Sanskrit means "well being", "being good", "auspicious", "prosperity" etc. So the Sanskrit word Swastika (Devanagari: स्वस्तिक) denotes "conducive to well being or auspicious". The symbol Swastika also denotes the same. Where ever Swastika image is shown it dissipate the idea of general well-being, auspiciousness, good luck and prosperity.

The opposite word for Swasti in Sanskrit is Aswasti. It means the exact opposite of Swasti .That means “not well", "not good", "inauspicious", "hardship" etc. In Sanskrit the word Aswast (Devanagari: अस्वस्थ) denotes "unwell", "unhealthy" etc.

So the inverse Swastika or counterclockwise Swastika is known as "Aswastika".

The Symbol of Swastika is used as the emblem for Sanatan Dharmma in Hinduism from ancient times.

Later on Jainism and Buddhism adopted concepts of Swastika as part of their belief systems.

The deeper meaning of the word Swastika is ‘Permanent Victory’.

It is said that any symbol can have positive and negative meaning depending on how it is drawn. So in Hinduism, the right-hand swastika is a symbol of the God Vishnu and the Sun, while the left-hand swastika is a symbol of Kali and Magic.

The Right-Hand Swastika is one of the 108 symbols of the Hindu god Vishnu as well as a symbol of the sun. The symbol shows the daily rotation of the sun by its arms, which appears in the Northern Hemisphere to pass from east, then south, to west.

The Left-Hand Swastika usually represents the respected Hindu goddess Kali and magic. However, this form of the swastika is not "evil" and it is the form most commonly used in Buddhism.

ब्रह्म मुहूर्त की महिमा (The Glory of Braham Muhurat)

नमस्कार मित्रों ,

         You all must have heard the great glory of Brahma Muhurta. From a student to a monk, this Muhurta is said to be beneficial. So let us know when this Brahma Muhurta starts and why it is profitable:

  

भारतीय संस्कृति में ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठने की बड़ी महत्ता है। 24 घंटे में 30 मुहूर्त होते हैं। ब्रह्म मुहूर्त रा‍त्रि का चौथा पहर होता है। सूर्योदय के पूर्व के पहर में दो मुहूर्त होते हैं। उनमें से पहले मुहूर्त को ब्रह्म मुहूर्त कहते हैं। दिन-रात का 30वां भाग मुहूर्त कहलाता है अर्थात 2 घटी या 48 मिनट का कालखंड मुहूर्त कहलाता है। उसके बाद वाला विष्णु का समय है जबकि सुबह शुरू होती है लेकिन सूर्य दिखाई नहीं देता।

ब्रह्म मुहूर्त सूर्योदय से 1 घंटा, 36 मिनट या 96 मिनट पहले शुरू होता है। उदाहरण के लिए, यदि सूर्योदय का समय 06:00 है, तो मुहूर्त 04: 24 से शुरू होकर 05:12 बजे समाप्त होता है। इसलिए मुहूर्त समाप्त होने का समय 05:12 है।

मनु महाराज ने कहा है:-

•  ब्राह्मे मुहूर्ते बुद्ध्येत, धर्मार्थौ चानुचिन्तयेत।

अर्थात- ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में प्रबुद्ध होकर, धर्म और अर्थ का चिंतन करना चाहिए।( Being enlightened in Brahma Muhurta, one should contemplate religion and one self.)

• ब्राह्मे मुहूर्ते या निद्रा सा पुण्यक्षयकारिणी।

अर्थात- ब्रह्म मुहूर्त की निद्रा पुण्यों का नाश करने वाली है।(The sleep of the Brahma Muhurta is about to destroy the virtues.)

ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठने की परंपरा क्यों ?

रात्रि के अंतिम पहर के बाद के समय को ब्रह्म मुहूर्त कहते हैं। हमारे ऋषि मुनियों ने इस मुहूर्त का विशेष महत्व बताया है। उनके अनुसार यह समय निद्रा त्याग के लिए सर्वोत्तम है। ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठने से सौंदर्य, बल, विद्या, बुद्धि और स्वास्थ्य की प्राप्ति होती है। सूर्योदय से चार घड़ी (लगभग डेढ़ घण्टे) पूर्व ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में ही जग जाना चाहिये। इस समय सोना शास्त्र निषिद्ध है।

सिख धर्म के अनुसार इस समय  को “अमृत वेला ”   कहा जाता है। ईश्वर भक्ति के लिए यह सर्वश्रेष्ठ समय है। इस समय उठने से मनुष्य को सौंदर्य, लक्ष्मी,  बुद्धि, स्वास्थ्य आदि की प्राप्ति होती है। उसका मन शांत और तन पवित्र होता है।

ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठना हमारे जीवन के लिए बहुत लाभकारी है। इससे हमारा शरीर स्वस्थ होता है और दिनभर स्फूर्ति बनी रहती है। स्वस्थ रहने और सफल होने का यह ऐसा फार्मूला है जिसमें खर्च कुछ भी नहीं होता। केवल आलस्य छोड़ने की जरूरत है।

ब्रह्म मुहूर्त और प्रकृति :-

                     ब्रह्म मुहूर्त और प्रकृति का गहरा नाता है। इस समय में पशु-पक्षी जाग जाते हैं। उनका मधुर कलरव शुरू हो जाता है। कमल का फूल भी खिल उठता है। मुर्गे बांग देने लगते हैं। एक तरह से प्रकृति भी ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में चैतन्य हो जाती है। यह प्रतीक है उठने, जागने का। प्रकृति हमें संदेश देती है ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठने के लिए।

आयुर्वेद में भी ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में जागरण से दिनचर्या के आरम्भ का महत्व प्रतिपादित किया गया है।

आयुर्वेद के अनुसार ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठकर टहलने से शरीर में संजीवनी शक्ति का संचार होता है। यही कारण है कि इस समय बहने वाली वायु को अमृततुल्य कहा गया है। इसके अलावा यह समय अध्ययन के लिए भी सर्वोत्तम बताया गया है क्योंकि रात को आराम करने के बाद सुबह जब हम उठते हैं तो शरीर तथा मस्तिष्क में भी स्फूर्ति व ताजगी बनी रहती है। इसलिए सफलता व समृद्धि मिलती है।

शास्त्रों में भी इसका उल्लेख है--

• वर्णं कीर्तिं मतिं लक्ष्मिं स्वास्थ्यमायुश्च विन्दति ।

     ब्राह्मे मुहूर्ते सञ्जाग्रच्छ्रियं वा पङ्कजं यथा ॥ - (भैषज्यसार 93)

   अर्थात- ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठने से व्यक्ति को सुंदरता, लक्ष्मी, बुद्धि, स्वास्थ्य, आयु आदि की प्राप्ति होती है। ऐसा करने से शरीर कमल की तरह सुंदर हो जाता हे।( A person gets beauty, Lakshmi, intelligence, health, age etc. by getting up in Brahma Muhurta. By doing this, the body becomes beautiful like a lotus.)

वेदों में भी ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठने का महत्व और उससे होने वाले लाभ का उल्लेख किया गया है।

•   प्रातारत्नं प्रातरिष्वा दधाति तं चिकित्वा प्रतिगृह्यनिधत्तो।

     तेन प्रजां वर्धयमान आयू रायस्पोषेण सचेत सुवीर:॥ - ( ऋग्वेद-1/125/1)

  अर्थात- सुबह सूर्य उदय होने से पहले उठने वाले व्यक्ति का स्वास्थ्य अच्छा रहता है।इसीलिए बुद्धिमान लोग इस समय को व्यर्थ नहीं गंवाते। सुबह जल्दी उठने वाला व्यक्ति स्वस्थ, सुखी और दीर्घायु होता है।

•   यद्य सूर उदितोऽनागा मित्रोऽर्यमा। सुवाति सविता भग:॥ -( सामवेद-35)

 अर्थात- व्यक्ति को सुबह सूर्योदय से पहले शौच व स्नान कर लेना चाहिए। इसके बाद भगवान की उपासना करनी चाहिए। इस समय की निर्मल हवा से स्वास्थ्य और संपत्ति की वृद्धि होती है।

• उद्यन्त्सूर्यं इव सुप्तानां द्विषतां वर्च आददे। -( अथर्ववेद- 7/16/२)

 अर्थात- सूरज उगने के बाद भी जो नहीं उठते या जागते उनका तेज धीरे-धीरे खत्म हो जाता है।

हिंदू कैलेंडर में मुहूर्त समय की उत्पत्ति है। समय को एक सूर्योदय से अगले सूर्योदय तक गिना जाता है। समय की इस अवधि को इस प्रकार विभाजित किया गया है:

1) लिप्ता: लगभग 0.4 seconds के बराबर,

2) विघती: लगभग 24 seconds के बराबर,

3) घटी: लगभग 24 minutes के बराबर

4) मुहूर्त: लगभग 48 minutes अधिक

5) नक्षत्र अहोरात्र: ३० मुहूर्त के बराबर, अर्थात, ( 48 मिनट × 3०) = 1440 मिनट / 6० मिनट = 24 घंटे या एक दिन। तो, एक मुहूर्त दिन का 1/30 है। दूसरे शब्दों में, एक दिन में 30 मुहूर्त होते हैं।

आज कल के दिनों में, ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में जागना कोरोना महामारी से छुटकारा पाने का सबसे आसान तरीका है।
